Each month at the Middle School pool through out the school year. It is great fun to jump in the warm pool and keep those swimming skills in the dead of winter
Join us on the third Saturday of each month throughout
the school year.
A summary of some of last years events:
October 27th at 6:00 was our campfire outing at
Camp Dudley Skits, songs and games. Foil dinners will be built
and eaten. There may be some Snipe about. Smores attract Snipe.
A map to Camp Dudley can be found here http://www.northfieldscouts.indianhead.org/Troop344/images/CampDudleyMap.gif
You should be meeting as a den now and hopefully have prepared
a simple skit or song to do around the campfire.
Parents that means you too. Please contact Mark or Tracy as they
will be planning and leading the program and will call you up at
the right time.
We will be collecting popcorn sales orders and money. They are
due the next day at the council so if you can't make it make sure
that you call or email Tracy to get it in on time.
Dress appropriately
Bring a flashlight it might get dark before we finish
Bring a chair if you don't want to sit on the logs
Bring your popcorn order forms and money collected
We will do this rain or shine (provided it isn't crazy down pouring,
hailing softballs or lightning)
We need some volunteers:
+ Membership coordinator (We need someone to call everyone and
make sure that the roster is up to date and everyone knows the
where, when, what and who)
+ Committee Chair
+ Assistant Cubmasters
+ Roundtable champion (attend the monthly District Roundtables
to pickup/drop off information and report back to the Pack committee
meetings about the news we need. Your first assignment would be
this Thursday eve in New Prague at 7pm. They are fun, educational
meetings.) Yeah I made this title up. I posted the RT schedule
on the district website http://rollinghills.nsbsa.org/
+ Email master attend monthly Pack committee meetings and send
out an email like this one.

October 21-22 was BALOO and WOLF leader training.
It is a riot! Mark Olson and I are part of the training staff.
We would love to have you there. You don't have to be a leader
now or commit to anything to come. All leaders should attend this
training. The Pack will pay for leader training.
October
28 was POW-WOW. All parents are invited to this fun
training. It is more like a big party than training; you will
learn a ton and have great ideas for Den, Pack meetings and outdoor
activities.
November was Game Night Mon. Nov
20 6pm to 8pm at Carleton recreation center! Do you know some great
games that you would like to try with the boys? We have always
had a great time and are again looking forward to our game and
pizza night at the Carleton Rec center. We do the Balloon stomp,
Trench, Kick ball and work on those sportsman and athletic belt
loops. Sometimes there is an airplane that gets loose in the Rec
center.
December Sledding, Skating and Singing!
January Pinewood Derby You should
start your car now. Ask your den leader to get you the kit or buy
a kit from the scout shop. We follow the rules that are in the
box for our derby and the District and Council follow them as well.
Mom, Dad and that sister should all build a car too. We have an
open-class and a siblings class that all win trophies! It is great
fun for the boys to race against family members. Our derby is usually
the last Sunday of the month in the afternoon.
February Blue and Gold This is our grand pot
luck dinner and awards ceremony. We award the Arrow of Light and
have skits, songs and silliness galore. This is a great family
event.
March -IMAX at the
Zoo.
The whole family is welcome to come. We get a Scouter Discount
at the IMAX.
Winter Cabin Camping - In the dead of winter
we get a nice cozy cabin to camp in at our nearby camp Phillippo.
Last year it was absolutely frigid. Mark Olson our Cubmaster enjoyed
the sub-zero night in his tent next to the cabin. Did you ever
hear someone snore and shiver at the same time?
May Raptor Center visit, Spring Rockets and
Kites. You can start building your Rockets and kites in your den
meetings. Save those wrapping paper tubes and glue an old easter
plastic easter egg to the top for a quick easy and very fun rocket.
June Bike Rodeo
July Summer Camping Be sure to sign up for camping
early. Plan in your den meetings when this next summer you would
like to go and put it on your calendar NOW! Then have someone call
the Council office and reserve your spots. Check out the Northern
Star Council website under camping to get the details: http://www.northernstarbsa.org/
Elko Speedway The speedway is a great summer
event and we can get a Scout discount.
August Swimming Our Pack stays active during
the heat of the summer with some cool events. Camp Phillippo has
a Swimming pool, Beach, sailboats, and canoes.
